Internationally renowned dementia expert Professor Graham Stokes has spent more than 25 years working in person centred dementia care. He’s Global Director of Dementia Care at Bupa, overseeing their dementia policy and practice.
Professor Stokes has also written several books about dementia and later life. He believes that person centred dementia care involves thinking like a shrewd detective, picking up on clues (often from the past) which can then help to uncover the reasons for even the most seemingly bizarre or ‘challenging’ behaviour. Thinking like a detective can, he believes, help carers to connect with and understand their loved ones in a way they may never have considered possible.
We’re delighted that Professor Stokes has agreed to share some of his fascinating insights and advice with visitors to Unforgettable. Watch out for an exclusive interview coming soon. Meanwhile, if you want to learn more about him and the families he’s worked with take a look here.
