Welcome to my blog! This week I’m talking about the benefits of working from home and an exciting new service we’re about to launch
I was supposed to be going on a short holiday last week but with so much going on at Unforgettable I postponed it and worked from home, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Instead of going away and worrying, I got to grips with all the tasks I hadn’t finished, such as looking through the legal requirements of the Lasting Power of Attorney service we’re about to launch. I also managed to read through our first product brochure which goes to the printer’s tomorrow (and looks very impressive) and I found time to apply for several dementia awards which I’m feeling hopeful about. I even found time to read all my emails! In fact, away from the distractions of the office (no offence guys, you’re all great) I was relieved to discover I could get a surprising amount done – and wasn’t in the slightest bit offended when my colleagues agreed that I was much more useful and efficient out of the office than I am in!
However, some tasks can’t be completed at home so I did have to come into the office on a couple of occasions:
• I had a great meeting with our wonderful pro bono lawyers Weil, Gotashal & Manges who have been so supportive to us over the last year. They’re now helping us with the finer details of our LPA to ensure we’ve got everything covered.
• I also worked with my amazing colleague Katie, who’s head of products. Developing new products and filling in gaps where products don’t exist is absolutely crucial if our business is to keep moving forward. I’m determined to get Unforgettable’s products onto the high street as soon as possible and with Katie’s expertise I’m sure we’ll make it happen.
Highlight of the week
It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly a year since Unforgettable launched. We now have 80,000 visitors per month (growing all the time) and high rates of satisfaction from our customers. I think it’s very important we mark this success and celebrate just how far we’ve come. With lots of help from our fabulous intern Melissa, I’ve started working on our first birthday event. It’s taking place on October 13, we’ve found a wonderful, spacious venue and we’re going to start sending out invitations soon. We’ve also got some very special guest speakers lined up…I can’t wait!
