5 Reasons Why Being a Home Carer is a Rewarding Career

Make Someone Smile

Every job comes with its challenges. And care work is no different. However, when you see that you’ve put a smile on someone’s face, you’re likely to experience immediate satisfaction. Making people happy can erase any negative experience you might have as a home carer.

Great Benefits

Many caregiving jobs offer good salaries. You could also get other valuable job perks like health insurance and training.

Perfect and Share Your Recipes

Being a live-in carer often involves meal planning and preparing food for clients. That means you are likely to spend quite a lot of your time cooking. As a result, you’ll be sharing recipes with your clients and even their loved ones. This can be a fun experience for you and your clients.

Work from a Home Environment

As a home carer, you don’t have to worry about working in a fast-paced environment or dealing with overbearing supervisors. You’ll be in a calm environment that won’t require you to do tedious tasks like you would in a typical work setting. For example, as a live-in carer, you’ll be doing the things you probably do at home—preparing meals, doing chores, and perhaps remembering to take medication.

Meet People with Incredible Stories

Everyone comes from a different background. Everyone also has a story. When working with clients in their homes where they’re most comfortable, you’ll hear their interesting stories. Most of your clients will be older people with lots of life experiences to tell you about. As their live-in carer, you’ll have plenty of time to hear about funny things they did when they were younger and learn about life in past decades.

Benefits & Requirements

Named the country’s Best Home Care Provider in 2021 and Laing Buisson’s Winner of Innovation, we’re on a mission to transform care through world-class technology, giving you more time to do what you love.

As a Care Assistant you will be expected to deliver outstanding care and support both in the home and outside of it. But above all, you’ll provide ongoing emotional support and companionship to your client whether this is over a cup of tea and a board game, or keeping them company while they watch their favourite TV show. After all, it is moments like these that make life special.

Other responsibilities include personal care, collecting and administering medication, helping your client move around their home safely and comfortably, engaging them in activities and much more.
